The Stand Alone Sears Optical Centers

The Stand Alone Sears Optical Centers

Sears has offered a lot of services over the years, auto centers, optical centers, portrait studios, etc. and Sears has also operated a lot of stand alone specialty stores over the years as well; Sears Hardware, Sears Hometown, Sears Optical, Sears Home Appliance Showroom, etc.

Notice what I said twice there? Everyone knows that Sears had optical centers in their full line stores, but nobody ever talks about their stand alone locations, so I figured that this might be a good opportunity to bring them up.

So without further adieu, let's take a look at the small amount of stand alone Sears Optical locations.

1109 S Park St, Carrollton, GA 30117

It should also be worth noting that none of these locations are operating anymore, and that all of them have since closed.

19 N Randall Rd, Batavia, IL 60510

One weird thing to note about this store is that it uses a slightly different version of the Sears logo, where all of the lines inside of the letter "R" don't fully connect, like they should.

A bit of a nit picky thing, and almost nobody would really notice it
anyway, but I for some reason feel like it should me mentioned.

Another thing to note about this location is that it was in the same plaza as a certain hardware store...

...A Sears Hardware, store that is

After closure

Former Sears Hardware & Appliance store

7708 S Cicero Ave #A5, Burbank, IL 60459

Here's a Sears Optical Outlet because of course it is, Sears kind of had a weird thing for outlet stores in the early to mid 2000's. Sears Outlet, Sears Fashion Outlet, and now, Sears Optical Outlet.

Which has seen been painted over and removed

19975 South La Grange Road, Frankfort, IL 60423

The Sears logo used on this location doesn't have any lines in it for some reason

16779 Torrence Ave, Lansing, IL 60438

Apparently these stand alone centers weren't completely forgotten by Sears, as they evidently gave some of them the new logo!

Vacant

1254 S Canal St, Chicago, IL 60607

Like the Batavia, IL store, it uses a slightly different logo than the one actually used by Sears. The logo on this optical location has a (so called) 'tail' at the bottom of the letter 'a' which isn't supposed to be there.

Vacant

The store used to look like this before the remodel.

1510A 75th St, Downers Grove, IL 60516

151 Barrington Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60194

2932 Walmart Dr, Huntington, IN 46750

I was unable to get any pictures showing the front of the building.

4165 E Court St, Burton, MI 48509

12 Grandview Plaza Shopping Center, Florissant, MO 63033

1091 N Court St, Medina, OH 44256

The letters on the sign started to peel over time

Google Street View did a weird glitch where it kind of duplicated, the sign never actually said "ooptical"

The plaza was also home to the first ever Super Kmart Center location.

3853 Burbank Rd, Wooster, OH 44691

Rr 6 Box 6040, #18, Towanda, PA 18848

This location didn't even use the Sears Optical logo, rather, it just had the words "SEARS OPTICAL" in a random generic-ish font.

The same plaza also had an arguably nice looking Kmart store too.

*Not even a day after I initially uploaded this post to Blogger, I found some more contenders to go on the list.*

19875 Center Ridge Rd, Rocky River, OH 44116

One of those abandoned store fronts to the far right was once home to a stand alone Sears Optical Center.

That entire plaza has since been torn down for residential housing.

2050 N Richmond Rd, McHenry, IL 60051

Tiny sign lol

On the other side of the plaza is a former Kmart / Sears Essentials

1360 Stoneridge Dr, Gahanna, OH 43230

4260 Kent Rd Suite 20, Stow, OH 44224

The neighboring Sally Beauty Supply would later expand into the former Optical space.

Well, that's all of the stand alone Sears Optical centers that I know of.

Thanks for reading
