Now enter the Walmart Supercenter of Norfolk

This store opened in 2007, immediately causing competition for the local Kmart

There's nothing wrong with a little competition between retailers, like a Home Depot up the street from a Lowe's (or something similar to that), that fine, in fact, that's actually common

But Walmart wasn't playing around by putting their brand new store, right next to their competition.

At this point Kmart wasn't really "competition" for Walmart, more or less as they were already on their own downward slope.

Needless to say that Kmart would eventually close in 2013, co-existing as a neighbor to Walmart Supercenter for a grand total of 6 years

The old Kmart building would later be torn down for Walmart's sister chain Sam's Club, which opened in 2015

They would close a few years later in 2018
