A Tale Of 4 Subway's

Remember in 2021 when Subway was closing over 1,000 locations? Many websites and news articles put the blame on franchisees and overexpansion. here's a perfect example of that, with 4 Subway's in Warwick, RI.

All of these Subway restaurants are less than 1.5 miles from each other

A little further up the street is a Sunoco gas station, with another Subway

This Subway location actually closed sometime between 2017 & 2018, but it still has to compete with the other 3 restaurants bearing the same name, and selling the same sandwiches

As of writing this, all of the other signs for the gas station still advertise Subway for some reason

Looking across the street is the Midland Commons shopping center, also known as the former Rhode Island Mall

One of the main anchors at Midland commons is non-supercenter Walmart

Which, of course, like many other Walmart's, has yet another Subway restaurant inside of it

All of those Subway's were practically up the street from each other, but alas, we're not done with out journey yet, as there is one more Subway restaurant a further away, but not too far.

A little over a mile past the Walmart Subway exists another,

Is it any wonder now why Subway was closing thousands of locations a few years back? With this many locations, this close together, it's no surprise why Subway made the decisions that they did with the closures.
